Windsor Castle Goes Green with Hydroelectric Scheme

Summary


WINDSOR CASTLE is to become more environmentally friendly after proposals to run it on hydroelectric power were approved.

Planning inspectors granted permission for a Pounds 1 million, four-turbine energyefficient plant at Romney Weir on the River Thames, enabling the change at the castle. The power plant will generate 200 kilowatts, about one-third of the energy required to power Windsor and will be the biggest of its kind in the South.
