HOUSEBUILDER George Wimpey has snapped up 46 acres of the Peugeot Stoke Works site in Coventry for Pounds 45 million.

Delivering forecast-topping first-half figures today, new chief executive Peter Redfern said Wimpey plans to build 1400 new homes on the site, provisionally called Stoke Urban Village, the first due to be finished next year. A rebound in sales of homes in Britain in the six months to 30 June offset slower sales in the US.
