TWO of the oldest active stars in the jazz world had planned to pit their octagenarian wits in an historic Anglo-US reunion last night but incredibly the American half of the duo was turned away by immigration officials at Stansted Airport. It's hard to imagine what they found so sinister about an 80-year-old musician arriving on a short-haul flight from Germany with his trusty alto sax. It says even more about our cultural erosion that his name Lee Konitz, a Miles Davis collaborator known to jazz fans throughout the civilised world meant nothing to any of them.See the full content of this document
