'Wembley and Oval' Plan for Marshes

Summary


PLANS have been unveiled to build mini versions of Wembley and the Oval on Hackney Marshes the home of grass-roots football in return for their partial use as a car and coach park for the London Olympics.

About 3.5 million of public money has already been earmarked to give the 135 hectare open space, which boasts 73 football pitches, a facelift. But now other options are being put forward, from building a "Little Wembley" and "Little Oval" to attracting more walkers and joggers.
