WATER watchdog Ofwat has been slated by a Government regulator and senior MPs for failing for six years to take action over the leakage scandal at Thames Water.

Accusing Ofwat of letting down household customers, the National Audit Office (NAO) today rapped the industry watchdog, telling it that it must learn the lessons of its oversight of Thames Water, which has persistently missed every target on leakage set by Ofwat since the turn of the decade.
