GORDON BROWN must be fuming about Derek Wanless's latest report about the NHS. The former banker's criticism of waste and low productivity despite the government spending 47billion since his first report was published in 2002 scores a direct hit on the prime minister in the same week as Brown's cherished PPP for the London Tube is similarly damned for squandering billions of pounds.
Of course, Brown tried his best to prevent Wanless's latest review. On his orders, the Department of Health refused to fund the research but thanks to the King's Fund, Wanless was financed to investigate the implementation of his original 2002 report.See the full content of this document
