SAINT-Emilion is 22 miles north-east of Bordeaux in the Gironde region of Aquitaine, on the right bank of the Dordogne river. The Bordeaux area is considered to be the capital of French wine and is the largest fine-wine-producing region in the world. The main grapes grown are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Saint-Emilion has 68 Grand Cru and Grand Cru Chateaux estates, the top of the tree for wine producers. It is also known for its regional produce including foie gras, truffles and wild mushrooms.See the full content of this document
