Summary
A BUSINESSWOMAN last night stormed out of a televised debate with Ken Livingstone, claiming the programme was biased in favour of the congestion charge.
Karen Spooner claimed her building maintenance firms in Chelsea and Kensington faced closure if the Mayor went ahead with plans to extend the zone into west London. She was part of a 250-strong audience grilling Mr Livingstone on a range of issues on last night's annual London Debate on ITV London. Mrs Spooner said she already paid Pounds 52,000 a year in parking charges for only 12 staff. She said: "The congestion charge will cost a further Pounds 21,000. You are going to put us out of business." Using electronic keypads, the audience then voted on the proposal, which would double the size of the zone if adopted.See the full content of this document
