Summary

Lansdowne bought 11,499,911 shares, equivalent to 4.11% of the issued total, valued at just over [pounds]15 million and held in the Lansdowne UK Equity fund. The company pursues an absolute return investment strategy through alternative asset classes and manages about [pounds]10 billion for an international client base. In addition to carbon credits launched by the EU, Trading Emissions invests in North American sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide credits. The purchase followed the agreement of a Trading Emissions takeover of Econergy, a US alternative energy producer and consultant. Econergy also owns the $25 million ([pounds]12.8 million) CleanTech fund, a private-equity investment fund established to invest in renewable energy projects in Latin America.
