THE tit-for-tat battle between the City and Canary Wharf for big- name banking tenants stepped up a gear today as JPMorgan finally signed up for a massive new European HQ at the Wharf.
The City of London had been fighting hard to keep JPMorgan in the Square Mile, where it had originally opted for a millionsquare-foot development by Hammerson between London Wall and Fore Street. Now the bank has paid [pounds]237 million for a plot of land at the western edge of Canary Wharf for a giant new development, sketched above.
