Three to Carry the Load As Barclays Chief Quits

THE boss of Barclays' UK banking business is to quit, and will be replaced by three people.

Roger Davis, 49, stands down tomorrow and said he was looking for a new challenge. It is not believed he has a new job lined up. Unless he finds one in the next 12 months, he will be given a payoff of up to Pounds 1 million. He earned Pounds 1.32 million last year. He leaves the bank in April, but will be available as a consultant until October 2006.
