I live in a conservation area in west London comprised of large, Tudor-style homes. My neighbour recently obtained planning permission for a side extension and extension to their basement. I believe the works are out of character with the area, an eyesore and overdevelopment of the house. I am also very concerned about the disruption building works may cause. What can I do to stop these extensions?
AA local authority can designate an area as a conservation area to preserve its character, which has happened to your neighbourhood. If a planning application is made that could affect the character or appearance of a conservation area it must be advertised in a local newspaper and by a site notice. Local planners must take into account any representations made to them about the planning application when they make their decision.See the full content of this document
