Summary
THE first frosts are normally a mixed blessing but this year they are most welcome. When the ban on smoking in public places came in on 1 July, addicts had the whole summer to pretend they were having a great time outside pubs and clubs, smoking and flirting.
They're still there but they're perishing. It's no longer possible to pretend it's fun. Will some perhaps actually succumb to frostbite? Being there is an admission that they are slaves to their habit. So my daydream compelling smokers to wear a placard proclaiming "Smelly self-harming cretin" has been implemented for me, quite legally, by the turning seasons..See the full content of this document
