The Championship [Edition 2]

Summary

PETERBOROUGH v C PALACE Mon, 5.15pm, London Rd Thought England's stirring Ashes triumph was all down to two years of planning, inspired captaincy by Andrew Strauss and some truly monumental incompetence from Australia's middle order? Think again. Palace boss Neil Warnock -- surely the only Yorkshireman who could give Geoff Boycott lessons in belligerence -- reckons he was the lucky charm at The Oval last week. "I was there on the Friday and whenever I got up to have a drink, an Aussie wicket fell," he exclaimed. Is there nothing Warnock cannot do? Well, yes, actually. He can't find victories in home Championship games -- at least if Palace's form this season is anything to go by. So maybe it's a good job the Eagles are playing away on Monday.

VERDICT: EAGLES STUMPED SCUNTHORPE UNITED v QPR Tomorrow, 3pm, Glanford Park It isn't just Rangers' league form which has gone up in smoke. The club shop has also suffered, with police looking into a burglary and arson attack at The Loft store in South Africa Road.
