SIR SIMON Jenkins, former editor of the Evening Standard and of The Times, told The Oldie lunch at Simpson's-In-The-Strand that he was so tired of controversy after writing a book about England's thousand best churches - which ones to include and which to omit - that he decided to return to politics with a study of Margaret Thatcher and her political legacy, Thatcher and Sons: A Revolution In Three Acts.
Jenkins said Sir John Major was more Thatcherite than Thatcher and that Blair and Brown were continuing the Thatcherite tradition. Blair had invited Lady T to Downing Street when he became PM in 1997 before he saw Michael Foot or James Callaghan.See the full content of this document
