Played for long enough and at a high enough intensity, tennis can also pack a calorific punch. "A 64kg person can burn up to 500 calories in a hard singles match," says Kieron Vorster, head of strength and conditioning at the Lawn Tennis Association and Tim Henman's former physical trainer.
