Summary
AS A black police inspector I can't accept the idea that the Met has ever been institutionally racist in my 18 years service with the force. The biggest mistake former Commissioner Sir Paul Condon made was agreeing to that damaging statement. The Met has done more than any other single employer to advance the cause of equality in employment for minority communities by showing a willingness to learn from its mistakes. As a reflection of our society, it is inevitable the force will contain some people with racist attitudes. What is important is that these attitudes do not affect how officers conduct themselves professionally.
