REPORTS that John Magnier and JP McManus want Martin O'Neill to replace Sir Alex Ferguson are wide of the mark, according to our sources. The Irish duo recognise that Sir Alex is the right man for Manchester United - despite reservations about conflicts of interest over transfers that they want resolved. In fact, once the Rock of Gibraltar dispute is finally settled don't be surprised to see messages from Ireland talking up Fergie as manager.
Glazer's interest is clear THIS "bigging up" of the United boss may well be a prelude to a takeover by American businessman Malcolm Glazer (right) and a sell-out by the Irish as Talk is reliably informed that there is dialogue between the two camps. It is being regarded as more than "a coincidence" that a story has appeared about a takeover feasibility study commissioned by Glazer's son, Joel, through a senior figure at Commerzbank while the United dispute is at its height.
