JACK STRAW came under fire today for absolving the US of diverting "torture flights" through Britain while admitting he simply did not know.

The Foreign Secretary announced there was no evidence that the US was using Britain as a stopover for President Bush's controversial practice of "extraordinary renditions" - the seizing of terrorist suspects for interrogation in other countries.
