MORE than 400,000 tonnes of untreated sewage were dumped in the Thames after Tuesday's thunderstorms, the Standard has learned.

The downpours swamped London's Victorian sewerage system, forcing Thames Water to open the gates at pumping stations in Chelsea, Hammersmith and Stratford.
