Is J Sainsbury going to be taken over? Last week it looked all but inevitable that the company would fall to a Pounds 1.billion bid from Delta Two, a fund owned by the Qatari royal family. However, another grand family the Sainsburys could yet scupper it.
What's the issue? The family regards itself as protective of the supermarkets group's heritage and employees. Although it has agreed in principle to an offer at p a share, it has asked the bidders to meet the demands of the trustees who oversee the pension fund on behalf of ^),present and former staff.
