What's the fuss about the Temporary Workers' Bill? Surely agency staff deserve equal rights with full- timers? The Bill, backed by a House of Commons vote on Friday, is aimed at making employers pay the same wages and benefits to the 14 million temporary workers in the UK. Its sponsor, Labour MP Andrew Miller, thinks it is wrong that temps with the same skills as perms are deemed to be worth less. Many of the lowest-paid workers in the country, hired on an ad hoc basis, are treated badly by employers. The Bill would make it harder to mistreat them, Miller argues.
