IT SEEMS absurd that Greenpeace's campaign to buy a field to obstruct Heathrow expansion is being spearheaded by Emma Thompson and Alistair McGowan. How many flights have such stars benefited from in their careers? Perhaps they can travel to the next international film awards by sea, as a result of which they can arrive fashionably late, having in the process probably generated a bigger carbon footprint than by taking a direct flight.
