Summary
ANDREW Gilligan's view (19 August) that a shoot-to-kill policy would be much more acceptable if it emanated from "us" rather than the police alarms me. Didn't the decision to invade Iraq come from Parliament - which is surely what Gilligan means by "us"? Any policy would, in any case, have to be interpreted on the ground by the police.
