Handbag designer Shizue Nobuta's storage system is quite unconventional. The fireplace has no grate because it's filled with shoes, the bookshelves are empty of books but groaning with bags and there's no wine in the cellar, just rails hung with extraordinary clothes. In this house fashion is more important than furnishings.

'My grandmother was a perfectionist with a passion for Chanel and Valentino couture and she had over 1,000 pairs of shoes,' says Shizue.
