FOLLOWING his replacement as theatre critic of The Spectator by Toby Young a year ago and of the New Statesman by Michael Portillo earlier this year, Sheridan Morley wrote to this paper to say: "My objection is that I might as well have been replaced by Sooty and Sweep or the Beverley Sisters."
Now Sherry is back, newly appointed as drama critic of the Daily Express, and a new round of colourful epithets has started flying. "Sheridan Morley's name is mud in my household," says Robert Gore- Langton, the Express critic for the last six years, who has been ousted to make way for Morley. "There is little I can say about him that is printable. He keeps falling over onto people in the theatre. The great heffalump's a tottering safety hazard and they should ban him.
