Summary


HEAD tasting honcho at Vinopolis, London's centre of wine and spirits excellence, Tom Forest, had a very inauspicious beginning to his career. Grand larceny might be the best way to describe it. When Tom was all but a lad and a trainee chef in his native Scotland, he caught his general manager pilfering from the wine cellar and was given a bottle of this contraband with the instruction that he was to keep quiet about these nefarious deeds.

It was a bottle of pinot noir. Tom kept quiet and consumed his first ever glass which led to a bottle of wine and so began a journey along the very long road of alcohol appreciation. He went on to do a course to gain a diploma in hotel and catering management where he excelled on the liquid subject and, presumably as penance for his earlier sins, found himself in Grimsby teaching the wet stuff to students in higher education colleges.
