Salmon Vanish From Sewage-Hit Thames

Summary


IT could be the end of salmon in the Thames. Increased sewage and drought may force the abandonment of a 30-year project to reintroduce the fish which once thrived in the river.

Environment Agency officials said today that last year was the first when not a single salmon returned to spawn, despite 30,000 young fish being released into the river.
