WE DEBATED many issues at the annual Siamese Twin convention in Hove and Brighton last week.

Whether to modernise the name ("Thai Twins"), whether to pilot an exchange scheme for Britishand American twins (so the other one can have a go at driving), and whether to expand our society's interests to include lexicographical Siamese Twins, those curious pairs of words where one can exist only when attached to the other: "halcyon" (days), "squally" (showers), "pyrrhic" (victory), "betwixt" (between), "fettle" (fine), and "extolled" (virtues).
