Summary
LONDONER'S Diary (5 February) inaccurately stated that Prince and Princess Michael of Kent pay Pounds 67.50 per week to reside at Kensington Palace.
The Queen is paying their annual rent of Pounds 120,000, in recognition of their work over the years in support of the monarchy and various charities which they have undertaken at their own expense. This arrangement will remain in place up to 2009, by which time Prince and Princess Michael will be living elsewhere. The rent is based on the current rate for commercially rented properties at Kensington Palace, and the money is paid into the grant-inaid which is provided by the government to maintain the occupied royal palaces.See the full content of this document
