DAVID ROSS is very much alive and well. The Carphone Warehouse co- founder who resigned as deputy chairman after he failed to disclose he had used his 20% holding in the company as collateral for a personal loan -- he also quit National Express where he was chairman and the job of Boris Johnson's 2012 Olympics adviser -- was in good form when I met him last week for a coffee.

If he was haunted and reduced by the episode, he wasn't showing it. He'd quit his posts because he felt he had to, and was made to feel he should.
