THE aerospace industry told two different stories today with Eads, the Airbus and military aircraft giant, reporting a plunge in profits while British aero-engines maker Rolls-Royce delivered soaraway earnings and orders. Eads' underlying profits were e367 million (249 million) in the first six months of 2007 against e1.65 billion in the first half last year.
Revenues dived e500 million to e18.5 billion as the crisis over delays to the 555-seat Airbus A380 took its toll. Rolls- Royce's profits rose 17% to 380 million on sales up 10% at 3.6 million in the first half of the year as the order book surged by more than a third to 35 billion.See the full content of this document
