Summary


SCIENTISTS have found a way to end the animosity between cats and mice by creating a mouse without fear.

Researchers at Tokyo University used genetic engineering to switch off nasal cells that made the rodent cower at the smell of cats. Ko Kobayakawa, team leader, said: "Mice approached the cat, snuggled up to it and played with it." It seems to show fear can be determined genetically rather than learned.
