REFERENCE books are boring to buy but wonderful to own. This week, a corker is published: The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia by Michael Gray. It's a great labour of love.

Michael Gray has been writing about Dylan for many years. He published the first full-length study of Dylan, Song and Dance Man, back in 1972, and through multiple revisions it has now expanded into a volume of 900 pages.
