I HAVE just travelled through Heathrow Terminal 1 for the first time since I retired, and was greeted with holes in floors and revolting toilets.
BAA spokesman Mark Mann's excuse about the 50 per cent increase in passenger volume the airport has had to take is breathtaking. The real reason for the traffic increase is BAA's 20-year-old "hub and spoke" policy, whereby millions of travellers are sucked in solely to connect to another flight. Why else would BA have, on numerous occasions, sold me business class tickets for Stockholm to New York via Heathrow and Concorde for several hundred pounds less than a normal London to New York flight?See the full content of this document
