THE price of oil was set to test $40 a barrel once more today, as fears mounted over acute petrol shortages in the US Nymex crude in New York rose 16 cents to $39.53 after coming within a whisker of $40 late last night - which would be the highest price for more than 13 years. Brent rose 17 cents to $36.71.
