THE Prince of Wales says the credit crunch proves what he has been saying all along about the perils of short termism.

Speaking to his Accounting for Sustainability Forum at St James's Palace, he said: "Individuals and organisations have been incentivised, to use that rather ungrammatical modern word, to generate short-term profits irrespective of their long-term sustainability." HRH added: "The point I have been making is, of course, that the three principal factors which caused the credit crunch over-consumption and indebtedness, over-confidence in market and regulatory systems and shorttermism also lie at the heart of a much more fundamental and alarming crisis, 'the climate crunch'".
