Summary

SUFFOLK is that bizarre mix of unspoilt and chichi and has long attracted Londoners to its wide pebbly beaches, vast open skies and its views over the flat countryside. Southwold, on the coast, is perhaps the county's poshest town, with plenty of Prada in the shops and olives at the deli.

Within walking distance is the pretty village of Walberswick, with its connections to the Freud family, and now Richard Curtis. Further down the coast is Aldeburgh, famed for its music festival started by Benjamin Britten.
