SPEAKING at the Hay Festival on Monday Ruth Padel said that she hopes the next Professor of Poetry at Oxford will be a woman. In London it's a call already being heard. There's a strong lobby for Josephine Hart, novelist and poetry critic, to stand. Ms Hart invented the hugely successful Poetry Hour lectures held at the British Library in King's Cross, where scrumptious luvvie crumpets perform poetry and Ms Hart speaks.
Hart has other impeccable literary credentials. Her first novel, Damage, was made into a film starring Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche, and she recently published The Truth about Love to widespread acclaim.See the full content of this document
