I HAVE been predicting the current crisis in outofhours GP cover ever since the Government offered doctors the chance to opt out of providing 24-hour cover seven days a week in exchange for docking Pounds 6,000 a year from our wage packets.
The previous system was far from perfect but, on the whole, it worked more smoothly than the current mess which is dependent on a mix of NHS GPs, private companies and foreign locums.See the full content of this document
