Orchestra Bosses Out of Tune

THE head of the London Symphony Orchestra is locked in an unseemly row with his opposite number at the Halle in Manchester.

John Summers, chief executive of the Halle, accused Clive Gillinson, managing director of the LSO, of portraying orchestras as a "bunch of complainers", adding that government support "has never, in recent times, been more sympathetic".
