VENETIAN TAPAS Russell Norman, who recently retired as operations director of Richard Caring's Caprice Holdings, has announced plans for his own restaurant in Soho. Called Polpo, it will open in early October on the Beak Street site that last saw action as Aperitivo.
Norman is keeping things Italian, although this time, fittingly for a building that carries a blue plaque as the one-time residence of 18thcentury Venetian painter Giovanni Antonio Canal, Pulpo is to be modelled on a bacaro -- the typically unstuffy finger-food destinations that are Venice's answer to the wine bar.See the full content of this document
