DAVID DAVIS insisted today he was "odds-on favourite" in the Tory leadership race despite his rival David Cameron emerging as the star of conference week.

The shadow home secretary admitted he suffered a bad press after his lacklustre speech failed to match the bravura performances of both Mr Cameron and Kenneth Clarke, but said the experience would prove he can bounce back under pressure.
