JAPANESE mobile phones giant NTT, frustrated by the gap between promise and delivery, is reportedly preparing to pull the plug on its joint 3G phones venture with Hutchison, writes Bill Condie.

Analysts believe DoCoMo will look for a British partner to advance its i-mode internet technology. "At minimum, I would think DoCoMo would try to strike an i-mode partnership in the UK," said Hitoshi Hayakawa, a telecoms analyst with ING Barings in Tokyo.
