WHILE ministers repeat the mantra of more funding for the NHS, the mental health sector is still the service's poor relation. The South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust is facing major cuts and possible redundancies as a result of an Pounds 8 million deficit, which will have to be made up during the coming financial year, in which overall funding is being reduced. This happens to be the Trust which includes Springfield Hospital in Tooting, from which John Barrett walked out and stabbed to death a passer-by.
