THE man accused of the worst massacre in Europe since the Second World War was today finally facing justice after being cornered by war crimes investigators.

General Ratko Mladic became known as the "butcher of Belgrade" after allegedly overseeing the slaughter of 8,000 unarmed Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica during 1995 and the deaths of over 10,000 people in the siege of Sarajevo.
