ROYAL scourge Mohamed Fayed has unexpectedly withdrawn the South of France estate where his son, Dodi, met and fell in love with PrincessDiana from the market.

A year ago he discreetly asked Knight Frank to find a buyer for the Castel de Ste-Therese behind St Tropez, with its two eight- bedroom villas, helipad, disco, two swimming pools and garaging for 50 cars. The price? Pounds 40 million. "Mr Fayed has now decided to hold on to it and will spend the summer there with his family," an aide tells me. In July 1997, the Harrods supremo invited the late princess to spend a family holiday there with Princes William and Harry.
