I tried it once in New York. Lot 61, Bungalow 8, Park, the bar at 60 Thompson and so on. It was a bet between some friends. You were not allowed to use press relations people or call up beforehand and give a spiel.

You just had to turn up and wing it. It's the purest form of clubbing. Relying on your wiles, charm and intuition to dodge the defence of doormen and check mate the clipboard Nazis. I did pretty well.

My best call was Bungalow 8. The holy grail of nightclubs that last week opened an outpost in London. It's a sod to get into and will doubtlessly be tricky here too unless you know Amy Sacco the owner (I didn't), are a Hollywood star (I'm not), or a model (no) or rock star (nope).

Jesus would find it hard to get into Bungalow 8.
