TWO construction firms with links to the Olympics delivered strong profits growth today and remained bullish for the future despite fears of an economic slowdown.

Balfour Beatty shrugged off the collapse of Metronet with a 48% jump in profits. Balfour said in January that results would be at the top end of City expectations and today delivered profits of Pounds 210 million compared with analysts' forecasts of between Pounds 193.1 million and Pounds 200 million.
