SOME things never seem to change in Flat racing and when Nottingham started a new season a fortnight ago, it was reassuring to see the old bias towards high-drawn horses on the straight course was alive and well.

Time after time, horses who race on the stands' rail just seem to do better than their rivals when the going is good.
